August 22, 2011 Susitna River Valley Hike
When we arrived to our favorite camping site we were shocked to see that the road washed out. So because the best hiking and exploring is on the other side of the washed out road we decided to walk through the water..... ahhhh man that water is cold and unpleasant! The reward of the 10 mile hike was definitely worth the pain. We didn't make it to the mountain we wanted to hike but we were able to pick berries and have a picnic at the river. This is the river were there are (no joke) gold miners. During our picnic the sky turned a little gray... or black and after we got all packed up and started back to the RV it started to rain. It only rained for a couple of miles and it felt kind of good. Walking in the middle of nowhere with Ryan and Brayden was one of my favorite day in Alaska. Kaylee was also reminding me that she was very much there too! A great day in Alaska!
